Women Who Invest Spotlight: Cathie Wood
Cathie Wood, founder of ARK Investment Management, joins the Barron's List of 100 Most Influential Women in the U.S. Finance this year for a reason. This woman has been trailblazing the investment strategy game. ARK Investments is now worth about $29 billion in assets, which mainly invests in innovations like genomics and self-driving cars. Over the past five years, ARK has returned an average of nearly 40% annually. Wood was one of the biggest boosters of Tesla and predicted the profitability and growth of Tesla early on.

Wood's strategy does not focus on short-term fluctuations. Instead, she takes a long-term view and goes where other investors are not. To become as successful as she is, Wood looked at places where other analysts were ignoring. She found profitable stocks at the intersection of multiple industries, and realized that is where innovation happens. She continues to invest in high-growth, high-risk, smaller-cap stocks.
